Want to know the Visalus Shape Mix ingredients? So did I, before I started the Project 10 Challenge in April 2013. It is important to me to know what is going in my body, so I decided to research all of the Visalus shape mix ingredients for myself.
Here are the ingredients in Visalus shape mix, and my findings about each of the ingredients, starting with the first one:
Soy Protein Isolate
Non-GMO (not genetically modified) Soy Protein that is very easily absorbed. The phyto-estrogens (isoflavones) have been removed, so it is safe for people who have had breast cancer, and will not cause “man boobs” in men. Soy improves muscle performance, can improve IQ, and decreases the risk of heart disease.
Digestive Resistant Dextrin
This ingredient acts as a fibre, which can block body fat, help you to feel full for longer. It is also pre-biotic, so it will help good bacteria in the gut which helps with digestion.
Whey Protein Hydrolysate
New technology that is the most absorbable high quality protein on the market today. Rich in amino acids, growth factors, and immuno-globulins. This helps with muscle building and fat loss.
Whey Protein Concentrate
When you look at the amount of protein in a Vi Shake, 21g may not sound an awful lot, but bear in mind the protein is in concentrated form, it actually packs in more protein weight for weight than other brands. The three different types of protein in Vi shakes work synergistically with each other, which may explain the amazing results both in terms of fat loss, and muscle gain that people experience with the shakes.
These are ingredients to improve the flavour of the base product. The shake mix on its own has a delicious sweet cream flavour. You can add other ingredients such as fruit, or the Flavour Mix-Ins to make other flavours, so you don’t need a tub of strawberry, a tub of chocolate, a tub of banana, etc.
As well as helping the product to mix better, lecithin can help to improve liver function. It is extracted from soy beans.
Used to thicken the product to give it a better consistency. This ingredient has been used for many years as a food additive and is made by fermenting glucose.
Emulsifier: Medium Chain Triglycerides
Added to improve the consistency of the finished product. Some studies have shown that MCT’s which are a type of fatty acid, can help with the burning of excess calories, making it a useful ingredient in a weight loss product. They are extracted from healthy oils such as coconut oil and olive oil.
Flavour Enhancer: Dicalcium Phosphate
As well as improving the flavour of the product, this is also a good source of dietary calcium. It also helps to stop the power from caking (sticking together) in the bag.
A low glycemic index sweetener that is an alternative to sugar. It does not spike hunger. Sucralose is approved by over 80 countries and used for over 25 years. It is safe in extreme upper levels of consumption. It is safe for diabetics.
Vi Shape mix contains a full spectrum of minerals. When mixed with 250ml semi-skimmed milk the shake delivers 39% EU recommended daily amount of calcium, 30% chromium, 33% copper, 72% iodine, 34% iron, 30% magnesium, 30% manganese, 30% molybdenum, 34% phosphorous, 25% potassium, 35% selenium, and 30% zinc.
Vi Shape mix also contains a full spectrum of vitamins. When mixed as directed it delivers 30% of the EU recommended daily amount of Vitamin A, 35% Vitamin B6, 90% Vitamin B12, 31% Vitamin C, 30% Vitamin D, 30% Vitamin E, 32% Vitamin K, 30% Biotin, 30% Folic Acid, 34% Niacin, 31% Pantothenic Acid, 52% Riboflavin, 31% Thiamin.
This is extracted from the stems of pineapples, it is an enzyme that may have anti-inflammatory effects, it also helps with the digestion of protein.
This is an extract of the papaya fruit. Again it contains enzymes which help with the breakdown of protein. The combination of Bromelain and Papain is an ingredient known as Aminogen, an expensive ingredient that is added to Vi shakes to help the body absorb more of the protein ingredients.
