How Do You Share Your Own Periscope?

, , Leave a comment

Here is the step by step guide to automatically share your own Periscope broadcasts onto Twitter as well as your other social media accounts.

Step 1. Set up IFTTT

Go to https://ifttt.com/ and sign up for a new account if you haven’t already got one associated with your Twitter account. Otherwise, log in to your existing account.

Add Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus, LinkedIn, and any other social media networks you would like to automatically share your Periscope broadcast announcements with.

Click on Preferences, then Profile, and connect your various profiles with your social networking accounts.

Under your username at the top, click on Create to create your own “recipe”.

Click “This”, and choose Twitter for your trigger channel.

Select “New Tweet By You With Hashtag”, and enter #Periscope as the hashtag.

Click “That”, and choose Facebook as the action.

Select “Create a link post”, and enter “{{Text}}” for the message.

Repeat this process to add automation for all your social networks.

Step 2. Activate Twitter Posting

When you start your broadcast you must have the share to Twitter symbol activated, this is the small image of a bird displayed under your Broadcast Title. Make sure it is white and not grey by tapping it.

Step 3. Start Broadcast!

Now whenever you start a new broadcast, it will be shared onto your other social networks.

The only draw back with this is it may also share broadcasts you are watching when you share these to Twitter, as they will also contain the trigger #Periscope hashtag.

Let me know what you think or if you have any other ideas for automating your sharing of Periscope broadcasts to other social networks.
